According to a post on the "Yunnan Release" WeChat official account, on August 19, Yunnan Provincial Party Secretary Wang Ning, and Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Governor Wang Yubo held a working meeting with Guo Jinyi, co-founder and CEO of Luckin Coffee, and his delegation in Kunming. Liu Hongjian, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Kunming Municipal Party Committee, also attended the meeting.
On August 19, Wang Ning and Wang Yubo held a working meeting in Kunming with Guo Jinyi and his delegation.
Wang Ning said that Yunnan enjoys excellent coffee-growing conditions and produces high-quality beans, with the coffee industry experiencing rapid growth across the entire supply chain. It has now developed into a large-scale industry worth nearly 100 billion yuan, offering broad prospects and tremendous market potential. He expressed hope that Luckin Coffee would continue to deepen its engagement in Yunnan, actively participate in the full industrial chain—from cultivation and processing to sales—and further enhance the brand influence of Yunnan coffee. He also emphasized establishing long-term mechanisms to ensure farmers' income, creating new business opportunities through supporting industry development and increasing farmers’ earnings, thus achieving mutual benefits.

They visited Luckin Coffee's Yuyuan store, Diancui Coffee Complex, Xingye Specialty Coffee’s Dianchi East Bank store, and Chunca Cafe’s Rainforest Waterfall Coffee Shop, gaining detailed insights into industry cultivation, store operations, and consumer experience design.

As is widely known, Yunnan Province is China's core coffee-producing region, accounting for over 98% of the country's total area and output of small-grain coffee.
The history of coffee cultivation in Yunnan dates back to 1892, when the first coffee seedling was planted in Zhukula Village, Binchuan County, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture. More than 30 trees descended from that original planting still bloom and bear fruit today, serving as a living testament to China's coffee-growing history.

In the seed sector, Yunnan has independently bred 22 coffee varieties, raising the province's premium coffee rate from 8% in 2021 to 41.7% in 2025. In the processing sector, Yunnan has vigorously developed deep processing, producing a full range of coffee products, with the deep-processing rate rising from 20% five years ago to 85% today. In the market sector, Yunnan has built regional public brands, cooperating with leading enterprises while also nurturing local brands, enabling Yunnan coffee to reach more than 40 countries and regions worldwide.
"During this period, everyone has had heavy interview schedules and often works late into the night on their reports. Why not have a cup of Yunnan coffee to refresh yourself and experience its unique flavor?" On March 7, 2026, at the open day event of the Yunnan provincial delegation during the Fourth Session of the 14th National People's Congress, Wang Ning, a national deputy to the NPC and Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee, extended a special "coffee invitation" to reporters while answering their questions.
Wang Ning noted that five years ago, coffee-growing farmers in Yunnan earned only around 10,000 yuan per household annually. Now, their income has multiplied several times over, with average annual household incomes exceeding 30,000 yuan, and some reaching several hundred thousand yuan. "The coffee farmers all say that our coffee not only tastes fragrant but also makes their lives sweeter and happier."
