On September 29, according to Starbucks' official announcement obtained by Jiu Pai News' financial reporter, the Starbucks International Grand Bazaar Intangible Cultural Heritage Flagship Store and the Starbucks Tian Shan International Airport Store opened simultaneously, marking Starbucks' official entry into the Xinjiang market.

Liu Wenjuan, CEO of Starbucks China, said that entering Xinjiang not only expands Starbucks’ store network but also offers an opportunity to engage deeply with a vibrant local market. "We hope to bring more than just new stores to Xinjiang—we aim to deliver authentic experiences that integrate into local culture and respond to the unique needs of customers and communities. We will continue investing in Xinjiang, creating a distinctive third place for customers through products, services, and experiences tailored to the region."

Mr. Li, a long-time Starbucks customer, told Jiu Pai News he is excited about the launch of these innovative beverages and plans to visit a store with his girlfriend during National Day holiday to try them. "I saw online photos of the cups from the Xinjiang store—they’re so beautiful. The 'Nai Pi Zi' coffee series especially caught my interest."

According to Jingdian News, as of fiscal year 2026, Starbucks has 8,342 stores in China, a net increase of 331.

Previously, Jiu Pai News reported that a fund managed by Boyu Investment holds 60% equity in Starbucks China's retail business, while Starbucks Global retains 40% ownership. Starbucks Global will continue to act as the owner and licensor of the Starbucks brand and intellectual property, licensing operations to the newly established joint venture.

The brand has also launched a series of signature drinks, food items, and city-themed gifts inspired by Xinjiang’s cultural characteristics, incorporating regional flavors such as pomegranate, baklava, and nai pi zi (milk skin) into its coffee offerings. During this year’s National Day holiday, one specialty drink and three signature dishes from Xinjiang will be available for a limited time at over 2,700 stores across 41 cities nationwide. This marks the first time Starbucks has rolled out region-specific innovations on such a large scale across the country.
