Despite delays in Brazil and Colombia, ABN AMRO still expressed an optimistic outlook for global coffee supply

According to Coffee Finance Network (www.coffinance.com), the international investment bank Rabobank of the Netherlands stated on Monday that although the global coffee supply outlook is optimistic, the delayed harvest in Brazil and the problems caused by the earthquake in Colombia have led to a slower flow of coffee beans from producing countries to consuming countries.

Rabobank mentioned in its report that the global coffee supply and demand for the 2020/27 fiscal year is expected to remain "very comfortable", with an oversupply of approximately 8.9 million bags (each bag weighing 60 kilograms). However, the logistics to consumers are longer and more challenging than previously expected.

The delays in exports from Brazil and Colombia may keep the certified Arabica coffee stocks in the exchanges at a level for several more weeks, and there is unlikely to be a significant replenishment before November.

However, the Rabobank believes that the inventory of Robusta coffee has begun to recover.

The report also indicates that the El Niño weather anomaly has brought "real climate risks" to multiple production areas, but it points out that market prices increasingly reflect expectations of these risks rather than their actual impacts.

At the same time, coffee demand is showing signs of responding to high prices, with the import volume of non-producing countries having decreased by 6.2% compared to the same period last year.
